Do I risk prison or a fine if I claim property that I'm not sure is mine?
Normally no (though consult your Attorney as this is not legal advice, this is suggestion guidance). Failure to pay this Third Party Investigation Team (Benchoff / A Check Exact / GodMath) per property funds item(s) immediately when you are paid, can place you at great risk. Government SOX is enforced, also government provides this Third Party with clear details as to whether you evidently found money through this Third Party or not. If you are not sure, consider what a juror would think. Also of course, if you intentionally do crime such as claim money you know belongs to someone else, the risk is also great. Government wants to know you are who you say you are.
Also when you verify ownership authority (you may note otherwise per item on the list) by prompt processing and paying, the Third Party is better able to investigate for you. When do I get paid, and what about the statute-of-limitations?
The statute-of-limitations does not apply with us / to this Third Party per se assissting you.
It does apply to other matters. It is recommended you act immediately. There is typically a large delay by the Claimant, on average government does not start it's 7 step process for 4 months.
